Catalogue accompanies a display of working drawings by Bacon, together with related archival papers. Provides the first detailed examination of this unknown aspect of his output. Reasons for the artist's secrecy are proposed. The sketches themselves are then discussed in depth and considered in context of Bacon's output, tracing their relationships with sources and completed paintings.
