Traces literary evidence (13th-17th cs.) on the Medieval church and hospital of S. Giacomo in the town of Fraele (Lombardy region). Disagrees with the suggestion (by previous scholars) that S. Giacomo was a hospice for pilgrims traveling the via Francigena and directed towards Santiago de Compostela, suggesting that it rather served as an inn for travelers of a different sort (i.e., miners, soldiery, etc.).
