Abstract (en)

Identifies three areas of production that belong to the sphere of professional crafts: aesthetic functional products, products described as spiritual, and works of art where material plays an important role. In Finland, professional art craft is defined in two levels. As a higher level concept it covers all this production, and as a lower level concept the area of aesthetic and spiritual products. A good product in professional crafts proves to be closely connected with the internal interests of the field. This is not restricted only on aesthetics but is particularly based on moralistic and ideological thoughts.
