Describes how 20th c. art historians have looked upon 19th c. architecture as the negative reflection of 20th c. architecture. In contrast to England, France and the United States, Sweden was influenced by German architecture which was itself dominated by a multitude and confusion of styles. It was not until the 1980s that 19th c. architecture was again celebrated in Sweden.
