Abstract (en)

Explores the 19th-c. reception of the choir screen (carved ca.1200) of the church of S. Michael in Hildesheim. Includes discussion of plaster casts of the screen that were displayed at the Deutsches Museum in Berlin, the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Munich, and the South Kensington (now Victoria and Albert) Museum in London. Such casts were modified according to the presentation possibilities and conceptual intentions of each institution that received them.
