Examines drawings and paintings by Edward Burne-Jones that depict the theme of Cupid and Psyche, including a series of drawings (1864-1868) which were intended to illustrate Earthly paradise by William Morris but were never published. Examines the drawings within the context of 19th-c. neoclassicism in England and in relation to other iconographic traditions of love and death.
