- According to the tapestry inventory made by Diego de Vargas at Valladolid which covered the period from 1553 to 1573, Don Carlos owned 76 items. This article studies the seven-piece series of tapestries depicting the battle of Pavia (Naples, Museo e gallerie nazionali di Capodimonte), the only tapestry set owned by Don Carlos, príncipe de Asturias, which is extant. They originally belonged to the Emperor Charles V and had been commissioned to commemorate the victory of the imperial forces over the French army at Pavia in 1525. The tapestries were designed by Bernard van Orley, and woven in the Dermoyen workshop, Brussels. Includes documents appendix.
