Abstract
(en)
Studies the enameled crown believed to have been made for Constantine IX Monomachos between 1042-1050 (Budapest, Magyar Nemzeti Museum). Responds to points raised by the scholar Nicolas Oikonomides, who suggested the crown was a 19th-c. forgery in an article published in 1994 (Travaux et mémoires 12, p. 241-262). Examination of details considered by Oikonomides to be anomalies substantiates, instead, the 11th-c. date.
