Considers Jean Pigozzi's and Uli Sigg's private collections of contemporary art from Africa and China respectively. Published in conjunction with the shows Arts of Africa: from traditional arts to Jean Pigozzi's contemporary collection (Washington, National Museum of African Art, 16 Nov 2005-26 Feb 2006), and Mahjong: contemporary Chinese art from the Sigg collection (Bern, Kunstmuseum, 13 June-16 Oct 2005).
