Reviews the exhibition Antonello da Messina (Roma, Scuderie del Quirinale, 18 Mar-25 June 2006). Argues that this Sicilian artist should not be allocated to one specific Italian school of painting. Discusses the restoration of certain paintings, and challenges the attribution of several others.
