Considers the relationship between painter Ad Reinhardt and art dealer Iris Clert, who staged the first solo exhibition of the artist's work in Paris in 1960. Examines correspondence between the two and provides further context by examining Clert's earlier exhibitions of the work of Yves Klein (1958) and Arman (1960). Discusses financial arrangements and Reinhardt's reception in France.
