Abstract
(en)
Traces the aesthetic of the unfinished since the Renaissance before exploring the example of Louis Kahn's architecture and his concept of the embodiment of incompleteness. Kahn's work demonstrates an historial, psychological, and philosophical interchange of the modern aesthetic of the unfinished with the historic image of the ruin. Argues that his architecture is unique in its elaboration upon the potential multiple meanings of an unfinished appearance.
