Reports on an English Heritage survey of the remains of a Second World War emergency battery, with additional evidence of anti-aircraft and other light armament defences and ancillary structures. The use of the site as a battery can be traced to 1779-1780; evidence also remains of its intermittent use in the 19th c. Records oral testimony from one of those who served at the battery during the Second World War.
