Discusses the use of the camera in the reporting of war, as well as the development of weapon technology, in 19th- and 20th-c. wars. Deals with the controversy over the photographic depiction of corpses from ca.1844 to 1954, looking at the work and style of such photographers as Roger Fenton, Mathew Brady, and Robert Capa, among others.
