Comments on the exhibition Stories and field notes from Doubtless Bay to Doubtful Sound (Auckland, Oedipus Rex Gallery, 2003), which presented expressionistic landscape paintings of fjords in the South Island by Laurence Berry. Focuses on the artist's insertion of calligrapic text from historical sources into his landscapes.
