Presents results of Polish architectural surveys and restoration work carried out at the princely castle in the Pomeranian town of Rügenwalde (today Darłowo, Zachodnio-Pomorskie). Places the history of Rügenwalde and its castle in the context of castle-building in 14th-c. Eastern Europe. Also comments on the influence of the rectangular-shaped castle of Rügenwalde on the construction of Krogen Castle (Helsingör).
