Abstract (en)

Refutes the article by P. Klöppel, Der Kupferstich "Welmenach" von Matthäus Merian d. Ä. mit der Darstellung des "Bergschlosses Maus", which appeared in the 46/2 (2005) issue of this journal. Believes that the etching Welmenach by Merian d. Ä. does indeed depict the town of Wellmich (formerly Welmenach), and not Bernkastel, as Klöppel argues, and that Merian was influenced by Wenzel Hollar's sketches (1636) of Wellmich.
