Objects to the atmosphere of mass consumption created by blockbuster exhibitions and argues that the acritical designation of works of art as "masterpieces" is mere calculation designed to stimulate the "aesthetic libido" of the public. In this context reviews the exhibition Picasso: 200 capolavori dal 1898 al 1972 (Milan, Palazzo reale, 15 Sept 2001-27 Jan 2002) of painting, sculpture, drawings, and prints from the collections of Picasso's heirs, and other sources.
