Abstract
(en)
Provides an architectural history of the Cádiz Cathedral, originally designed in 1721 by Vicente Acero y Acebo. Uses architectural writings, models, and plans to describe its troubled construction (which lasted until 1853) under Acero. Focuses on his intention to fuse Roman sources with Spanish elements and his eventual resignation as a result of criticism on stylistic, structural, and political grounds.
