Abstract
(en)
Describes the influence of Wassily Kandinsky's painting and Lázlo Moholy-Nagy's photography while the two artists served as educators at the Bauhaus during in its formative years in Weimar. Looks at aesthetics of Russian constructivism and Dutch De Stijl as well as the socio-political theories which they brought to the institution, and which in turn shaped public ideology and practice. Also tracks the contributions of Lucia Schulz Moholy-Nagy in her husband's photographic experimentation and promotion of technological advancement (particularly in the reception of photography).
