Abstract (en)

Compares the photography- and painting-based installations by the two Canadian artists, here united for the exhibition Origins: two installations (University of Toronto, Hart House, Justina M. Barnicke Gallery, 27 June-25 July 2002). Emphasizes the inclusion of other objects such as stone and a model church, techniques for manipulating material and content, and issues in the representation of one's family through old ancestral photographs.
