Discusses the role of the Centro di Studi per la Storia dell'Architettura in disseminating the history of Lazio's "minor" architecture, notably the 1940 publication of Lazio e suburbio di Roma by Mario Zocca, which incorporated photographs from the collection of Maria Pasolini. Focuses on the activities of Gustavo Giovannoni, president of the Centro di Studi, and the scholarly environment that prevailed in the years before World War II. The paper was presented at one of a series of conferences dedicated to the architecture and culture of the Castelli Romani (L'architettura del primo Settecento; Genzano di Roma, Palazzo Sforza Cesarini, 27 Apr 2002).
