Presents a group of 48 inscribed designs for embroidery in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The designs provide evidence of technical practices, and many are inscribed with the names of those buying or making embroidery and dates. They provide a point of departure for the study of the interaction between professional pattern designers, professional embroiderers, and amateurs of the art.
