A study of the Coffin handbills, a series of handbills that appeared during the 1828 presidential campaign between John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. Discusses the incidents featured in the handbills (the first being the execution of six Tennessee militia men in Feb 1815), the motives of the producers, and the variations on the coffin theme. Provides of a catalogue of all known versions to date.
