Abstract (en)
Recounts the history of the print collection of Historic Deerfield, developed by the founders Henry Needham Flynt and Helen Grier Flynt. Initially purchased as furnishings for 10 historic houses, the prints include 18th-c. English mezzotint portraits, American historical prints of the 18th and 19th cs., illustrations for the American book trade, maps, and fashion plates. More recent collecting practice has focused on prints with histories of ownership in the Connecticut River Valley and with New England imprints.
