Abstract
(en)
Explores Alberti's religious sensibility and idea of God, observing that in his thought, the Sacred extends beyond the walls of the church and is found in all domains of ethical human activity. Also considers his statement in De re aedificatoria that the interiors of religious architecture should remain in intense shadow and so the windows should be small, few in number, and placed high in the walls, and observes that this effect is indeed achieved in Alberti's church of S. Andrea in Mantua.
