Traces the cult of S. Mary Magdalene in the Marches region, and its reflection in 14th-18th-c. religious architecture and painting. Examines the saint's iconography in painting in the Marches by Gentile da Fabriano, Carlo Crivelli, Lorenzo Lotto, Orazio Gentileschi, and others. Observes that the city where devotion to the Magdalene was especially strong was Senigallia.
